As you may know, Apple added Flickr uploading to iPhoto ‘09. As you may guess, I was a little perturbed at this since I pay my mortgage by selling, er, a Flickr upload plugin for iPhoto. I acquired my copy of iLife ‘09 yesterday and decided to dive deep on how Apple have implemented Flickr integration in iPhoto ‘09. Here are the results of my investigation. Be aware as you read that this is the result of a morning’s click-around investigation and not months of serious use. I will do my best to give an honest assessment of what is in iPhoto ‘09, and you’ve already read my full disclosure in the previous paragraph.

Now here’s an app many creative professionals might find useful. The DSLR Remote iPhone app lets you trigger your camera’s shutter, adjust almost any of its settings, and view photos it’s taken. The catch, unfortunately, is that the camera needs to be wired to a computer for this to work. Even so, I can think of plenty of situations where this could come in handy, though admittedly there are few where a professional would absolutely need it. Still, the more tools you have, the more versatile your whole setup is, and who wouldn’t want to snap pics via their iPhone anyway?

Tags vs Text. Tags are keywords. If your "tags only" results are weak use less words or use "all text" to rummage through titles and descriptions. Tab Me Turn your popups on. Lingering your cursor over a bar will display the pixel dimensions. Creative Commons Checking this box restricts your search to the Creative Commons library. Use the "commercial" setting to hunt for commercially usable assets. Seek Original If you want nothing but blue bars change the Seek Original switch to "only." Turn the feature completely off when you intend to wander around flickr™. FlickrViewer is a (hopefully) simple to use enhancement to SimpleViewer that allows SimpleViewer to display a selected flickr photo set. You can see it in action here.

Before sending the images to Flickr, you can modify them with several tools like cropping, sharpening, color correction and much more.
