Sifry's Alerts: State of the Blogosphere, April 2006 Part 1: On Blogosphere Growth

by vista & 2 others (via)
The blogosphere is over 60 times bigger than it was only 3 years ago. New blog creation continues to grow. Technorati currently tracks over 75,000 new weblogs created every day, which means that on average, a new weblog is created every second of every day - and 19.4 million bloggers (55%) are still posting 3 months after their blogs are created. That's an increase both absolute and relative terms over just 3 months ago, when only 50.5% or 13.7 million blogs were active. In other words, even though there's a reasonable amount of tire-kicking going on, blogging continues to grow as a habitual activity.

Chevy Commercial RoundUp

by jasontromm
Chevy’s website has a promotional contest going, asking you to make your own Chevy commercial. Now, we’re all making commercials.

How to Boost Your Blog Traffic

by jasontromm & 4 others (via)
Many first time bloggers automatically assume that once their blog is setup and they put a few posts on it, they will get some hits and regular readers. This is quite untrue. You won’t get any traffic if no one knows about your website.

Blogging For One

by bader (via)
A new study finds that blogs are more likely to deal with personal matters than politics or current events, and nearly 50% of bloggers see the activity as a form of therapy.

Handbook for bloggers and cyber-dissidents

by laihiu & 3 others
Blogs get people excited. Or else they disturb and worry them. Some people distrust them. Others see them as the vanguard of a new information revolution. Because they allow and encourage ordinary people to speak up, they’re tremendous tools of freedom
