CMON is a daemon that aggregates information from MySQL Cluster that earlier was only accessible from the cluster log or the management client, such as: * cluster state * node state * backup statistics * statistics * cluster events (cluster log basically) .. and let's you access the information using SQL, because CMON logs the information into ordinary MYISAM tables! So, it is really easy to use! In the package you also get get php scripts that you can put on your webserver to generate graphs and get a www interface to CMON. CMON can also start ndbd nodes and make decisions on how they should be started (with or without --initial). CMON starts as a daemon and will automatically create cmon database and install the necessary tables automatically.

Check Your Mysql Server Performance with MySQLTuner -- Debian Admin

by 1 other
MySQLTuner is a script written in Perl that will assist you with your MySQL configuration and make recommendations for increased performance and stability. Within seconds, it will display statistics about your MySQL installation and the areas where it can be improved. It’s key to remember that MySQLTuner is a script which can assist you with your server, but it is not the solution to a badly performing MySQL server. The best performance gains come from a thorough review of the queries sent to the server, and an evaluation of the MySQL server itself. A qualified developer in your application’s programming or scripting language should be able to work with a MySQL database administrator to find improvements for your server. Once the server and application are optimized well, you may need to consider hardware upgrades to the physical server itself. This is a really useful tool for helping to optimize MySQL performance.Understanding the various my.cnf variables and how they affect performance can seem really complicated but this tool takes some of the pain away and makes it easier to understand the effects of each variable. It is especially useful to be able to see the global memory usage, memory usage per thread and the maximum possible memory usage - that is really valuable information that is otherwise complex to calculate.

Preventing MySQL Injection Attacks With GreenSQL On Debian Etch | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials

by 1 other
GreenSQL (or greensql-fw) is a firewall for MySQL databases that filters SQL injection attacks. It works as a reverse proxy, i.e., it takes the SQL queries, checks them, passes them on to the MySQL database and delivers back the result from the MySQL database. It comes with a web interface (called greensql-console) so that you can manage GreenSQL through a web browser. This guide shows how you can install GreenSQL and its web interface on a Debian Etch server.

Monitoring Bandwidth Usage for a Xen node @ IONCANNON

After my last post on limiting bandwidth usage on a Xen node I thought I would follow up with how to monitor the bandwidth usage of a Xen node. I chose to use netacct-mysql to monitor bandwidth and store the results into a mysql database. This isn't the only way of monitoring the bandwidth but it was easy to set up and stores the information directly into mysql without needing any extra scripts. On the Xen setup I'm using for an example there are 3 nodes and a bucket for each node will be created in the mysql database by netacct. Setting up netacct can be tricky so you will want to check to make sure traffic for each node is going into the correct bucket.

Xen Virtualization: Work with MySQL Server, Ruby on Rails, and Subversion

(via)
In this article, Prabhakar Chaganti will show us to create virtual appliances that perform one specific function. These appliances can be web servers, database servers or anything else that you can think of which is useful for your business. The key advantage with these appliances is the fact that they are mostly maintenance free, and can be started up and then used without going through any lengthy installation process. You can use these as needed for your testing and then dispose them off. You can also use them for staging environments or production environments, and you can even share them across the enterprise.

MySQL Performance Monitoring Tool by Quest Software

Spotlight® on MySQL diagnoses MySQL problems in real time by graphically displaying all database activity in an intuitive user interface, enabling you to respond quickly to issues that need attention. With Spotlight on MySQL, DBAs or developers running Windows can drill down to locate in-depth information on the source of a performance issue. And because the run-time nature of your MySQL databases is unique, Spotlight calibrates itself to a baseline of normal database activity. This allows Spotlight to automatically establish the speed of the internal flows and other activity indicators. When a threshold is met, Spotlight notifies you using a visual or audible alert. Spotlight on MySQL supports MySQL versions 5.0 or later that employ the InnoDB storage engine.

GPLHost:>_ Web hosting open source (GPL) control panel

by 3 others
Domain Technologie Control (DTC) is a GPL control panel for hosting. Using a web GUI for admin and accounting all hosting services, DTC can delegate the task of creating subdomains, email, and FTP accounts to users for the domain names they own. DTC manages a MySQL database containing all the hosting information. It has support for many programs (bind 8 and 9 and compatibles, MySQL, Apache 1.3, php4, qmail, postfix 2, courier, dovecot, proftpd, webalizer, mod-log-sql, etc.) through config files and/or MySQL plugins (when the service is non-critical). It can also generate backup scripts, calculation scripts, and config files using a single system UID/GID and monitor all traffic accounting per user and per service. Since version 0.12, DTC is fully skinable and translated into several languages (Chinese, English, Spanish, French, Dutch, German, Italian, Russian, Hungarian, Romanian and Polish).

How To Set Up Database Replication In MySQL | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials

by 4 others
This tutorial describes how to set up database replication in MySQL. MySQL replication allows you to have an exact copy of a database from a master server on another server (slave), and all updates to the database on the master server are immediately replicated to the database on the slave server so that both databases are in sync. This is not a backup policy because an accidentally issued DELETE command will also be carried out on the slave; but replication can help protect against hardware failures though.

Virtual Users And Domains With Postfix, Courier And MySQL (+ SMTP-AUTH, Quota, SpamAssassin, ClamAV) | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials

by 1 other (via)
This document describes how to install a mail server based on Postfix that is based on virtual users and domains, i.e. users and domains that are in a MySQL database. I'll also demonstrate the installation and configuration of Courier (Courier-POP3, Courier-IMAP), so that Courier can authenticate against the same MySQL database Postfix uses.
