Pour vérifier mes sauvegardes Linux, j’ai créé un plugin nagios. Je place le code erreur dans un fichier. Puis lorsque Nagios vient executer le plugin, celui-ci lui renvoie le code erreur situé dans le fichier avec un message.

CMON is a daemon that aggregates information from MySQL Cluster that earlier was only accessible from the cluster log or the management client, such as: * cluster state * node state * backup statistics * statistics * cluster events (cluster log basically) .. and let's you access the information using SQL, because CMON logs the information into ordinary MYISAM tables! So, it is really easy to use! In the package you also get get php scripts that you can put on your webserver to generate graphs and get a www interface to CMON. CMON can also start ndbd nodes and make decisions on how they should be started (with or without --initial). CMON starts as a daemon and will automatically create cmon database and install the necessary tables automatically.

Si vous avez un serveur sur lequel vous gérez une floppé de Wordpress, voici un petit script crée par les amis Billyboylindien et Xorax qui va vous permettre de mettre à jour tous ces wordpress en un seul coup… Alors bien sûr les plus sournois d’entre vous vont me dire : “Ouiii mais euuuh, y’a wordpress MU j’te ferai dire d’abord que j’te signale !” Effectivement, Wordpress MU est une version particulière de Wordpress qui permet via une seule install de Wordpress d’avoir x blogs… Très bien mais toujours mis à jour en décalé par rapport à Wordpress standard et tout le monde n’a pas forcement installé un Wordpress MU dès le départ (genre : moi !) Du coup, ce script de mise à jour est vraiment le bienvenu. Une fois que vous l’avez paramètré et rendu exéutable, il se chargera automatiquement de téléchager la dernière version de Wordpress, fera un backup de vos fichiers et de votre base de donnée, et mettra en place les nouveaux fichiers de Wordpress sans bousiller toute votre install (donc sans toucher à wp-content). Tip top quoi !

SystemImager lets you create images of your Linux installations. To do so, you need an image server (should have enough disk space to store your images) and a so-called golden client (i.e., the system of which you want to make an image). This means that you have to install some software on your image server and on your golden client in order to run SystemImager. If you're using LVM based storage for your domains this script will create a snapshot and backup each server to a local drive or a remote system using rdiff-backup.

Timevault est un programme pour Gnome sous Linux qui est encore en phase beta qui permet de faire des sauvegardes automatiques de ses fichiers ou de son système sous forme de Snapshot comme la Time Machine sous Mac ou le machin de restauration de Windows.

Box Backup is an open source, completely automatic, on-line backup system. It has the following key features: * All backed up data is stored on the server in files on a filesystem - no tape, archive or other special devices are required. * The server is trusted only to make files available when they are required - all data is encrypted and can be decoded only by the original client. This makes it ideal for backing up over an untrusted network (such as the Internet), or where the server is in an uncontrolled environment. * A backup daemon runs on systems to be backed up, and copies encrypted data to the server when it notices changes - so backups are continuous and up-to-date (although traditional snapshot backups are possible too). * Only changes within files are sent to the server, just like rsync, minimising the bandwidth used between clients and server. This makes it particularly suitable for backing up between distant locations, or over the Internet. * It behaves like tape - old file versions and deleted files are available. * Old versions of files on the server are stored as changes from the current version, minimising the storage space required on the server. Files are the server are also compressed to minimise their size. * Choice of backup behaviour - it can be optimised for document or server backup. * It is designed to be easy and cheap to run a server. It has a portable implementation, and optional RAID implemented in userland for reliability without complex server setup or expensive hardware.

Time Machine, une des fonctionnalités phares de Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard, qui permet de créer automatiquement des sauvegardes de son disque dur afin de permettre la récupération de données peu importe le moment où elles ont été présentes sur votre disque, a maintenant un équivalent pour les systèmes d'exploitation GNU/Linux. En effet, TimeVault, un utilitaire de sauvegarde open-source permet de faire la même chose. Vous pourrez prendre des images de votre disque dur à différents intervalles pour ensuite restaurer des données que vous aurez effacés.

rdiff-backup backs up one directory to another, possibly over a network. The target directory ends up a copy of the source directory, but extra reverse diffs are stored in a special subdirectory of that target directory, so you can still recover files lost some time ago. The idea is to combine the best features of a mirror and an incremental backup. rdiff-backup also preserves subdirectories, hard links, dev files, permissions, uid/gid ownership, modification times, extended attributes, acls, and resource forks. Also, rdiff-backup can operate in a bandwidth efficient manner over a pipe, like rsync. Thus you can use rdiff-backup and ssh to securely back a hard drive up to a remote location, and only the differences will be transmitted. Finally, rdiff-backup is easy to use and settings have sensical defaults.
