Stunning Animated GIFs Colorize Vintage Black and White Photos - My Modern Met

Photographs are a link to the past, and with advances in technology, we’re able to colorize what was once only in black and white. The Dutch website NSMBL recently shared a collection of images that show the “before” and “after” of digital colorization. That alone is interesting, but better yet, the process is revealed in the form of animated GIFs. Vintage monochromatic photos come alive with hues right before our eyes

20th Century Remembrances : un album sur Flickr

Yet more of the Weird, sometimes funny, sometimes sad but decidedly interesting slides of the 20th Century. All of them were up for grabs at estate sales or garage sales or in the trash, their owners long gone. So I came to the rescue with my trusty scanner and Photoshop. Some of the slides had labels and others needed labels. I provide song lyrics when inspired. Leave your thoughts - that's why I've posted them...

Obscene Interiors

I created this series in 2003 from images found on the web for a project about pornography and never used it. These interiors are too fantastical not too share and in combination with the invisible pornography creates very interesting visuals. Not dissimilar from work by a friend called Tracy Lynch and the original obscene interiors.

Space Alphabet

In honor of Sputnik 1, 50 years later (on Oct. 4th), I present to you all a nice little gem of a book I got off of ebay about a year ago: Space Alphabet (1964) by Irene Zacks. Pictures by Peter P. Plasencia. It's the entire book. I normally don't do this, but it's just too good not to share it all.

Console Portraits: A 40-Year Pictorial History of Gaming

Forty years ago this month Ralph Baer -- a German-born inventor who fled to America from fascist Germany -- built and played the first home-video game. Called the "Brown Box" the proto-console was a nondescript unit powered by D-cells and wired to a black-and-white TV. "It's obvious that no one could have foreseen what it would develop into," Baer says today.

The Retrobabes Gallery !

by 3 others
From vintage pinups, to 80s glamour queens, no matter who you had a crush on growing up, you're bound to find a beautiful lady here that you adore.Off the top of my head I'd have to say it's a tie between Pam Grier, Sophia Loren, and Julie Newmar. My first crush was in Kindergarten when I had the hots for Lindsay Wagner, The Bionic Woman (who I keep putting off making a gallery of, cause it better be just right). I remember my mom found a picture I drew of me kissing her and it said, "I Love Lindsay Wagner." How embarrassing is that? Enjoy!
