Remastersys Backup

by m.meixide
Remastersys is a tool that can be used to do 2 things with an existing Debian, Ubuntu or derivative installation. 1. It can make a full system backup including personal data to a live cd or dvd that you can use anywhere and install. 2. It can make a distributable copy you can share with friends. This will not have any of your personal user data in it.

Linux : Script simple pour backup de bases de données MySQL | Loutre.ch

by eledo34 & 1 other (via)
Welcome - netboot.me

by ycc2106 & 1 other
netboot.me is a service that allows you to boot nearly any operating system or utility on any computer with a wired internet connection - without having to know ahead of time what you'll want to boot. Once you can netboot.me, you never need to update your boot disk again! netboot.me works through the magic of netbooting. There are a number of ways to boot a computer with netboot.me. The simplest is to download a bootable image and burn it to a CD, USB memory stick, or floppy disk. Boot off it on any networked computer, and it will automatically fetch the latest boot options from netboot.me and let you choose from dozens of installation, recovery, testing, portable desktop and other tools. You can also start netboot.me from any computer running gPXE, or from any netbootable computer with some simple tweaks to your DHCP server.

Free Online Backup, File and Folder Sync, Share

by ycc2106 & 5 others
SpiderOak offers a different approach to online backup by combining a suite of services into one consolidated tool - free online backup, synchronization, sharing, remote access, and storage. This difference is further measured in our zero-knowledge privacy policy - the first one ever employed in this setting. Our flexible design allows you to handle data from any operating system (Mac, Windows and Linux) or location (external drives, network volumes, USB keys, etc...) using just one centralized account.

Easy Automated Snapshot-Style Backups with Rsync

by sylvainulg & 11 others (via)
As of rsync-2.5.6, the --link-dest option is now standard! That can be used instead of the separate cp -al and rsync stages, and it eliminates the ownerships/permissions bug. I now recommend using it. Also, I'm proud to report this article is mentioned in Linux Server Hacks, a new (and very good, in my opinion) O'Reilly book by compiled by Rob Flickenger.

How to Copy a Filesystem and Preserve Hard Links in Linux (by Jeremy Zawodny)

by sylvainulg (via)
But since much of the data consists of remote filesystem snapshots produced using rsnapshot, which makes copious use of hard links, it's rather important that I do this correctly. If I don't, the data won't even

How To Back Up An Ubuntu 8.10 System With SystemImager | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials

by camel & 1 other (via)
SystemImager lets you create images of your Linux installations. To do so, you need an image server (should have enough disk space to store your images) and a so-called golden client (i.e., the system of which you want to make an image). This means that you have to install some software on your image server and on your golden client in order to run SystemImager. This tutorial shows how to install a SystemImager server and a SystemImager client, both using Ubuntu 8.10, and how to create/update/restore/delete images.
