全台國中小學生最多4千最少9人

吳妙娟表示，雖然虎井國小學生人數很少，資源及設備不比台北充分，但學校老師對學生的付出從未少過，除了該有的鄉土、英語課程外，放學後或假日，學生若對課業不熟悉，一通電話老師就免費輔導，且因為島上沒有幼稚園所以也提供社區民眾的子女寄讀，目前學校有2、3位寄讀的學生。
