時昭在接受「華盛頓郵報」採訪時回憶說，當時究竟是什麼人基於什麼理由下這道命令，沒人搞得清楚。幾天之後，三十三歲的時昭寫了封信給當局說：維基不是一個散播反動言論或純粹議政的網站，它裡面雖然包含台灣、「六四」等條目，但使用者都確信其內容是客觀的，封了它，只能使中國人民更難於去刪除那些「有害的」內容。
