Storyplanet » Five types of interactive narratives
by gregg & 1 otherIn the book “Narrative as virtual reality” Marie-Laure Ryan writes about two forms of interactivity. The first one is a selective form, where the user can choose between a selection of content and information – this can be scenes in a documentary, photos in a slideshow, texts on a blog etc. The second one is a productive form, where the viewer also becomes the creator – for example by adding clips, photos or text to an existing story.
Marie-Laure outlines a number different models for interactive storytelling. I have boiled it down to five models, which I think are a great starting point when you are planning your interactive project.
