Gorilla Safaris

by 3 others
I have always been really drawn to the beautiful Gorilla, they are astounding animals which have many comparable features to humans. Gorillas are big, tender, shy apes that have their habitat in the continent of Africa. Gorillas have been made to appear like monsters by the film industry prior to now but are in actuality quiet, shy, peaceful vegetarians. These highly clever animals are at risk to extinction due to the massive deforestation of their habitats. Gorillas that for whatever reason have been put in captivity have displayed a great deal of intelligence learning sign language from scientists and have been seen to form straightforward sentences and get over their intent with individuals. Only Gorillas in captivity that have been taught have displayed any ability with tools this doesn’t mean to say they haven’t used them in the wild just that they as yet haven’t been observed. As I spoke about earlier Gorillas are mostly quite animals but they communicate with each other using several complicated noises and gestures this is normally to show the young the numerous skills required to survive and to talk to different gorillas about social relationships, food, warning etc. Gorillas are mostly herbivores, though sometimes they will consume termites and ants. The drink they get from the vegetation they consume is enough to rarely require a drink of water, which isn’t that amazing if you consider that a ordinary male gorilla consumes about 50 pounds of food each day. The work to make sure that the gorillas habitats is not completely ruined has been carried out by people over the years and now due to the many Gorilla Safaris that now bring money into the regions, specifically to see the beautiful gorilla, the requirement for protection for these magnificent animals is a lot more important. Many of these companies give opportunities to go Mountain Gorilla Safaris in the several parks in the area, but this is on a permit basis to make sure the gorillas aren’t disturbed too frequently. The protected areas the gorillas live in has let these companies to also provide Wildlife Safaris which ensures that awareness and financial support keeps coming into the regions. At earlier stages of their development Gorillas would have had their habitat in the trees but they have changed into living on the ground mostly living at the forests edge and near clearings within the rainforests. The life span of a wild gorilla is about 35 years, but animals that are put into captivity have been seen to survive till about 50. By about 10 or 12 years of age gorillas are capable of mating, the pregnancy lasts around 8 to 9.5 months for the female gorilla and she will have about 3 babies in their existence. The freshly born infant is on average half the weight of a human baby. Watching a Gorilla mother raising her young is very much like that of a human mother with great gentleness and affection. Baby gorillas once weaned build there own nests near to there mothers and will at some point leave there side at about 3 to 4 years old. Original Post: Adventure Travel Gorilla Safaris
