What would you lose if your Gmail, Flickr or Facebook were deleted? Do you have all of your photos and important emails backed up? Or would you lose them forever? If your photos, emails, documents, blog posts, friends lists etc are important to you, you should be keeping a copy of this information offline.

The Challenge: Design a simple set of icons that can educate users of the privacy policies of websites. (Think of something as simple as the Fair Trade Coffee label on food or creative commons logos for copyright)

Approach: A comparison of users' expectations of privacy online and the data collection practices of website operators. Goal: To identify specific practices that may be harmful or deceptive and attract the attention of government regulators. Result: Recommendations for policymakers to protect consumers and for website operators to avoid stricter regulation.
