Archiving Social Media
(via)As Twitter, Facebook, and other forms of social media grow more and more prevalent in society at large, so does their potential importance to scholars and others who aim to understand the world of the early 21st century. In order to reach this potential, archivists, librarians, historians, members of industry, and representatives of government must develop new tools, methods, and standards for preserving social media resources. Organized by the University of Mary Washington (UMW) and the Center for History and New Media (CHNM) at George Mason University, this one-day, unconference-style workshop aims to explore these questions more fully than has been done before and begin formulating some answers.
