PUBLIC MARKS with tags image & jQuery

imgAreaSelect is a jQuery plugin for selecting a rectangular area of an image.

I mean Parallax Scrolling which is a technique often used in good ol’ arcade and video games like Moon Patrol or Sonic the Hedgehog. In such 2D games parallax scrolling was used to create an illusion of three dimensional depth.

Even though Fullsize is not currently in the next HTML spec (yet :), you can still get Fullsize for FREE! I created a jQuery Plug-In that does just what is described above and what you see in the video below. Since there is no fullsize attribute for the <IMG> tag yet, I am using the longdesc attribute instead. longdesc is a completely valid image attribute and is meant to contain a URL to a description of the image. The Fullsize jQuery plug-in is super easy to use, and provides a kick start to standardizing the way image pop-ups look and work.

Galleriffic was inspired by Mike Alsup's Cycle plugin, but with performance in mind for delivering a high volume of photos. The plugin transforms an unoredered list of images into a box displaying only one preview image at a time. The box has controls to skim through the preview images and to enlarge a given image. The box expands to accomodate the enlarged version, while the controls are hidden in full image size mode. A simple click on the image returns the box to its compact state. The compact box has fixed, automatically calculated dimensions. The widht and height are calculated so that all thumbnail images are cropped to the smallest width and height in the set and centered resulting image area (stage).
