Tema14 – UbuntuSun * Autor: P.Lobo em Dicas para o visual * 8 Comment No seguimento do último artigo da série de temas esta semana apresento um tema desenhado pelos próprios designers do Ubuntu. O objectivo deste tema é juntar o melhor de dois mundos, segundo os seus criadores: “Algumas pessoas gostam de temas escuros e outras pessoas preferem temas claros, porque não combinar ambos num conjunto de temas com diferentes sombras?”. A base deste tema foi ter o sol a brilhar no desktop do utilizador. Este tema apresenta três versões, a Dawn com cores claras que representa o nascer do sol, a Day, com cores mais brilhantes e mais claras representando os dias de sol e por último o Dusk representando o pôr do sol com cores mais sóbrias e escuras. No entanto os temas nunca se tornam berrantes, são bastante agradáveis e não cansam a vista mesmo quando se está muito tempo no computador.

Tema 9 – Elementary * Autor: P.Lobo em Dicas para o visual * 19 Comment Tal como prometido no último artigo, tenho todo o prazer de vos apresentar um dos melhores e mais bonitos temas para o Ubuntu, o Elementary. O Elementary é um tema que tem feito bastante furor dentro da comunidade do Ubuntu, prova disso é o facto de ainda há pouco tempo os autores terem criado um PPA para actualizações, e também porque é referido, e bastante louvado, em quase todos os sites da especialidade. Um dos objectivos deste tema é ser o mais simples, limpo e user-friendly possível. Atinge esses objectivos na perfeição com a conjugação de ícones, margens de janelas e Docks. Este projecto elaborado por Daniel Fore, responsável pelo tema Humanity do Ubuntu e pelo novo tema de ícones do Lucid Linx, foi iniciado em Abril de 2008 e teve como primeiro objectivo ser uma alternativa viável ao KDE e evoluiu para se tornar no artwork de um futuro Sistema Operativo, o ElementaryOS. Segundo o autor “tudo começou com um simples ícone de pasta azul, e cresceu para um tema de desktop completo, focado uma bela interface”. A meu ver, o objectivo foi mais do que conseguido, na minha opinião deveria ser um standart no Ubuntu, e você também o poderá verificar se seguir todos os passos deste artigo. Tema Completo No entanto, se prefere uma melhor experiência de utilização do Elementary, talvez seja melhor instalar o que é conhecido por “Elementary Desktop“, que além do aspecto gráfico, também instala o programa Docky, o web-browser Midori e mais alguns programas de melhoramento visual. Docky Por padrão o Elementary instala o programa Docky, que é bastante agradável, no entanto pode entrar num certo conflito visual com o gnome-panel tal como pode verificar na imagem seguinte:

New Wave 0.8.1 GTK 2.x Theme/Style dilomo dilomo Home Installation: (requires pixbuf theme engine) Very simple. Just extract the archive somewhere and drag and drop the file new-wave(xxx).tar.gz where (xxx) is the version number e.g. 050 to the Appearance settings window. If you use version is 0.7.3 or earlier please remove it first and then install any later because there is internal folder reorganization. You may need to log out then log in to make all changes appear (e.g. handlers, lines). For more information on how to fix Firefox's menubar text, fix OpenOffice and how to use the theme in root programs see the README file

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 Gentoo Partial working and whats next. Well i did get Gentoo installed . what ever i did two things i could not do . my login which i though i had created . It didn't let me in. the network cards failed to auto load. i tried to find a network manager to load the card . no help . at first i could not get into it because kubuntu auto grubs menu didn't see it. i used supergrub disk to boot into it. So now im trying mepis again. It was pretty solid except when i first loaded it . It took over my system and i could not even get into windows. a few distributions of linux later . I have many ways around a problem like that. i am saddened Gentoo didn't work out but that's way it goes . i am not patient enough to compile as i go . I thoght about pc linix os but i had so much fun with that . I uninstalled it back when this blog started
