Broadway.com reports that Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators for all media covering New York theatre announced its award winners–and Jersey Boys is the winner of THREE awards: * Outstanding Broadway Musical * Outstanding Actor in a Musical: John Lloyd Young * Outstanding Lighting Design: Howell Binkley

In The Envelope, the Los Angeles Times Ultimate Awards website, reporter Paul Sheehan talks about the Tony Award Best Musical contenders ahead of the May 16 nominations. Among the frontrunners, Sheehan lists The Color Purple, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Wedding Singer, and of course, Jersey Boys. Here’s what Sheehan said about Jersey Boys:

I confess…I’ve always dreamed of being a record producer… Listening to the “Jersey Boys Original Broadway Cast Recording,” followed by the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons’ “Anthology” made my unusually long 90-minute bumper-to-bumper commute yesterday much more bearable.
