upscale typography » Blog Archive » Drawing with Type

This is one of the newest apps for the Apple iphone. The concept is very simple. Drawing with letters. The first release came out late May, but the project started back in 2005 as an online project for the web. You simply type a sentence or word and then you start drawing. You may save it, email it or upload it to the typedrawing flickr group. The new 1.2 update goes one step further. Now you can set colors, typeface, text size, and undo & redo. This is the type of application that makes you spend many creative hours with your iphone or ipod touch.

iFast on the Behance Network

Imagine you don’t have to move your mouse to the toolbar so often when you’re creating a document in Photoshop. Ofcoarse we have shortcuts, but shouldn’t a shortcut really be a shortcut? Just one button you have to press instead of the cmd key + ‘x’? Here’s iFast!

Reportage is a radically different native Twitter client for your iPhone that provides a radio tuning environment into your Twitter social network. Reportage views a Twitter user as a broadcaster and each user's tweets as a specific broadcast. Similar to a real radio tuner, Reportage allows you to selectively tune into each broadcaster and visualize the conversation.

iPhone app lets you shoot remotely with your Canon DSLR - Nikon support coming

by 1 other
Now here’s an app many creative professionals might find useful. The DSLR Remote iPhone app lets you trigger your camera’s shutter, adjust almost any of its settings, and view photos it’s taken. The catch, unfortunately, is that the camera needs to be wired to a computer for this to work. Even so, I can think of plenty of situations where this could come in handy, though admittedly there are few where a professional would absolutely need it. Still, the more tools you have, the more versatile your whole setup is, and who wouldn’t want to snap pics via their iPhone anyway?

Zen Bound from Secret Exit

by 2 others
A calm and meditative game of wrapping rope around wooden sculptures. Something to be enjoyed at a slow pace: a game where a high score is not the goal. Zen Bound is designed to challenge in a subtle way, it does not attack or force the player.

swissmiss | WhatTheFont for the iPhone! YAY!!

I have big news! What heFont, the ingenious font recognition app that I use on a regular basis is now available for the iPhone. With the iPhone version of WhatTheFont you can use the phone’s built-in camera to photograph the text in question (or choose an existing image from your photo albums). The app allows you to crop the image, focusing on only the important parts before uploading. After confirming which characters are used in the image, the app provides a list of possible matching fonts. You can then either e-mail a link to a MyFonts page with more info on that font, or open it up in the iPhone’s built-in Safari web browser.

Tapulous - Social Apps for iPhone - Home

by 1 other
We love iPhone. And we love to build things, so we got together to build a family of fun, social apps for iPhone and share them with the world. On any given day (or night), expect to find half a dozen of the Tapulous regulars at "The Shop", our office in downtown Palo Alto, California. We have great designers, iPhone hackers from the good old days, award-winning Mac developers, and lots of entrepreneurial energy. Plus we have great investors, and we love them for believing in our vision: Andy Bechtolsheim and Roy Sardina via HighBAR Ventures, Marc Benioff, Jeff Clavier, Katrina Garnett, Khosla Ventures, Rajeev Motwani, Ben Smith and Rob Theis, to name a few.

ISO50 - The Visual Work of Scott Hansen » Blog Archive » Vintage-ize Your Iphone Photos

After I posted about the Poladroid app some people were asking about a Lomo version of the concept. My friend Erik Pettersson has released a set of photo processing apps for the iPhone which give your digital shots that vintage warmth. There’s a Vint Red, Green and B&W plugin, each treating the colors a bit differently. My favorite is the Green, it definitely gives you that low ISO Lomo feel complete with vignetting. More examples are available on Erik’s Flickr. You can download the Vint plugins from the iTunes store or on your iPhone, one is free, the other two are $1 each.
