How We Build CMS-Free Websites | Development Seed

Except of course Microsoft’s web browser Internet Explorer, whose irresponsible disregard for web standards and majority market share has both slowed the evolution of the entire web by a matter of years and cost enterprises unimaginably high expenses in maintenance and additionally development for compatibility.

Google vs. Web Architecture - Stefan Tilkov's Random Stuff

A GET request is the only thing a crawler should ever issue if it intends to conform to the architecture of the Web

QuirksBlog: The iPhone obsession

by 1 other

More specifically, today I will shout at web developers who think that delicately inserting an iPhone up their ass is the same as mobile web development.

Et oui, l'iPhone c'est pour les fesses, et l'iPad c'est pour...

Why Twitter's New Security Solution Could Pave the Way to a Future Web of Mashups - ReadWriteWeb

OpenID can't be used by desktop apps

it could help usher in an era where effective user security enables an explosion of mashups

Ouaaaaiiis.

Techworld - Microsoft 'interested' in open source browser: Ballmer

"Why is IE still relevant and why is it worth spending money on rendering engines when there are open source ones available that can respond to changes in Web standards faster?"

"That's cheeky, but a good question, but cheeky," Ballmer said.

Indeed it is. If I was a Microsoft share holder I would want to know why Microsoft is sinking so much money into its own Web browser rendering engine when there are others available for free.

life without MIME type sniffing? - W3C Q&A Weblog

That reminded me of an idea I heard in TAG discussions of MIME types and error recovery: a browser mode for "This is my content, show me problems rather than fixing them for me silently."

Though Adam offered a patch, building firefox is not something I have mastered yet, so I'm interested to learn about run-time configuration options in IE (notes Julian) and Opera (notes Michael).
