ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the game, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!

The Z-Machine Preservation Project

The Z-Machine Preservation Project (ZMPP) is a modern implementation of the Z-machine in Java. It is completely written from scratch using Java 5 to provide an architecture that is easy to understand, maintain and extend. The goal is to provide an interpreter implementation that is standard compliant and offers the possibility to play interactive fiction on many platforms without recompiling the source code.

nform was created by Graham Nelson, who also wrote the documentation. Emily Short wrote the examples and the Test Suite used for unit testing. The Mac OS X user interface and overall visual design are by Andrew Hunter. The Windows user interface is by David Kinder. Theoretical guidance and advice from Emily Short and Andrew Plotkin was invaluable, as was Sonja Kesserich's testing.
