Jose, can you see?

Jorge Bush finally found a point of difference with his amigos who support illegal aliens. Asked whether the national anthem should be sung in English or Spanish, el presidente didn't miss a beat. "I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English, and I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English," he said without equivocation -- at least for now.

(via)
A 14-year-old is being credited with fighting off her attacker. Brittney Richardson says she was grabbed by a man last Friday night on 93rd Avenue in Westminster, after walking home from the grocery store. But her attacker quickly learned that Brittney isn't your typical teenager. She has a brown belt in Karate, and she used the skills she's learned during two years of classes.

(via)

Sally Jacobsen of the literature and language department, has been charged with criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking and criminal solicitation. It's hard out here for a pump

I would be more interested in what the Democrats had to say about high gas prices if these were not the same people who refused to let us drill for oil in Alaska, imposed massive restrictions on building new refineries, and who shut down the development of nuclear power in this country decades ago. But it's too much having to watch Democrats wail about the awful calamity to poor working families of having to pay high gas prices.

Will an energy crisis bring the oil industry to our shores?

Every few years, when geopolitics or other factors suddenly drive the cost of crude oil through the roof, industry insiders start looking to America's coastal waters for new supplies of oil and natural gas. It happened in the 1970s. It happened in the 1980s. It happened again last October, when Hurricanes Katrina and Rita -- along with other factors -- conspired to push the price of a gallon of gasoline over three dollars for the first time.

The victims of illegal immigration

President Bush accuses those of us who want to secure America's borders and fully enforce our immigration laws of lacking "compassion." Huh. Well, I have yet to hear an ounce of compassion from President Bush for America's countless casualties of lax immigration enforcement. Where's the sympathy for innocent, law-abiding citizens who have lost their lives at the hands of illegal aliens and their open-borders enablers?

The meaning of the word 'amnesty'

We had a president in the 1990s who didn't always mean what he said and didn't always say what he meant. Once he even questioned the meaning of the word "is." Now we have another president who tells us he opposes "amnesty," but his definition of that term has little to do with what it says in the dictionary.

Minimum wage, maximum folly

About a fortnight ago, Mrs. Williams alerted me to an episode of Oprah Winfrey's show titled "Inside the Lives of People Living on Minimum Wage." After a few minutes of watching, I turned it off, not because of the heartrending tales, but because most of what was being said was dead wrong. Let's look at it.

Welcome to the white-trash nation

(via)
In a scene from the upcoming “American Idol” satire “American Dreamz,” an industry suit tells the Kelly Clarkson-styled character and her mom that a “white trash” background is great for her image. “We’re not white trash,” the mom counters, taken aback. “Of course you’re not,” the suit replies, rolling his eyes at their garishly decorated middle-class home. “But look how well it did for Britney Spears.”

Bush Says Laws Must Treat Immigrants With Respect

President George W. Bush, seeking to refocus the immigration debate in Congress, said the U.S. must attack the "underground industry" that thrive on illegal immigrants while treating undocumented workers "with respect." ()() Why? Illegal aliens (not undocumented workers) have no respect for US or our laws. It won't take massive deportations, just deport 1% and the rest will get the message that they have to obey our laws.

McCain's lettuce-picking remarks yield unwanted green

(via)
As he steered his Straight Talk Express across the United States in recent weeks, Republican Sen. John McCain has tried to stay a-head of the immigration issue. But Friday the immigration issue delivered 36 or so heads to his Phoenix office -- heads of lettuce, that is. McCain has been getting skewered in the media for comments earlier this month to a union group in Washington, D.C., that immigrants are taking jobs no one else wants, and offered them $50 an hour to pick lettuce in the Arizona sun for a summer, suggesting they couldn't do it.

Nike University

Now that hundreds of thousands of parents have discovered for themselves how the public school system is an incredibly inefficient and ineffective means of providing children with an education, it is interesting to note that some of them are beginning to turn skeptical eyes on the hallowed institution of the university.

Bill would make sale of sex toys illegal in South Carolina

(via)
"I know of multiple marriages that sex toys have saved because some people need that. The people who are riding us so hard are probably at home buying sex toys on the Internet. It’s ridiculous." -- Lucy’s Love Shop employee Wanda Gillespie ()()I was going to present this without comment, but I have to say. "As a Libertarian, I'm against this bill."

Baptists call for public school support

(via)
A group of Baptist leaders called on its members Friday to "speak positively about public education" in response to a conservative movement to pull Baptist children out of public schools. Fifty-six pastors and organizational leaders - some from the conservative Southern Baptist Convention and others from the more moderate Cooperative Baptist Fellowship - signed a letter supporting public schools.

Revs arrive, truth dies

The arrival of the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton [at Duke] changes the dynamic dramatically. Rev. Jackson is even so sure that the alleged rape victim is telling the truth he is providing her with a scholarship for her college education. All of a sudden the issue is not a rape victim and those that may be guilty of such a horrific crime; rather, it is about "white rich boys" attacking a "poor black girl." Why?

This Just In… U.S. to Try Enforcing Immigration Laws

The Department of Homeland Security announced Thursday that it would be implementing a new, revolutionary, cutting-edge, state-of-the-art approach to the illegal immigration problem. What is this “new” approach? Believe it or not, the department declared that the U.S. would now be cracking down on employers who “knowingly and recklessly” hire illegal aliens. In other words, they are going to try a “new” program called “enforcing existing laws.” Guess what? It works!

'African-American': Huh?

Welcome to my world, one which exists in another full of annoyances. The biggest one thus far? It's the silly PC term, "African-American," which is one of the most irrelevant PC terms ever. If I recall, wasn't it invented by a kindergartner? What the hell is this nonsense? It's everywhere, and there's no sure sign in sight of its demise. It's quoted daily in the media, used proudly by its "supporters," and is supposedly a "good" term for paying homage to the motherland of America's so-called "minorities"

'Watch This!' Man Injured In Waterfall Jump

(via)
A Georgia man was hospitalized after jumping from the side of Alabama's DeSoto Falls and plunging 150 feet before hitting the water. The leap wasn't a suicide attempt since several witnesses reported that prior to the plunge, the man yelled, "Watch this." ()()If this redneck had died, he'd be a candidate for the Darwin Award.

'Marketing of Evil' tops Amazon 'Current Events' chart

ACLU fails to oust Minutemen

The American Civil Liberties Union failed an attempt to remove volunteers with the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps from Arizona state land. Pat King, according to the Daily Star, called the ACLU members misguided, out-of-town youngsters who don't understand what people and drug smugglers have done to her land and the valley.
