he 2010 Soul of Athens team seeks to carry on the tradition of defining the vibrant and diverse community in and around Athens, Ohio. This year we will take you on a journey where you can explore the Soul of Athens at an easy, inviting pace. We've focused our stories through the lens of five themed editions: Experience, Passage, Expression, Shelter, and Thrive. One edition will be released every two weeks.

Attraction

"Tu veux être comme nous ? Plaire aux filles ? Avoir du succès ? Prends une cigarette." Une nouvelle campagne presque classique pour l'Inpes (Institut national de prévention et d'éducation pour la santé), à un détail près : elle prend la forme d'un manga interactif, Attraction. Un court métrage d'une dizaine de minutes réalisé par le japonais Koji Morimoto, pourtant lui même gros fumeur. Le pitch : En 2040, Hiro, Koichi et Ren, trois ados tokyoïtes, sont propulsés dans un club des bas-fonds de la ville grâce à un briquet magique. Ils devront affronter le gérant charismatique et ses sbires prêts à tout pour les convaincre de commencer à fumer. L'originalité de ce film d'animation est de faire intervenir le spectateur grâce à sa webcam. Oubliez le visionnage passif : il faudra se pencher, secouer la tête, etc. pour assister les héros dans leur mission.

Our challenge was to give HP technology relevance in times when actions speak louder than any media buy. So we built a website that is literally as tall as Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,340 ft, or 16,709,709 pixels), where fans could track a group of celebrities and activists climbing the world’s tallest free-standing mountain to raise awareness for the global clean water crisis. The climbers used HP technology to amplify their message to the rest of the world, sharing their photos, clips and tweets on the site in real time. The 16,709,760-pixel Web site allowed fans to climb with the team in real time. You could follow their photos, videos and tweets along the way, as well as track their vitals, their position on the mountain and the current weather conditions. L’équipe de Google Chrome tente, après Micorosft (comme ici avec Never Mind the Bullets), de convaincre les developpeurs d’adopter les fonctions avancées de l’HTML5. Mais il va, selon moi, bien au delà, car il tente ici de faire bouger les lignes au niveau des utilisateurs eux-mêmes, en les convaincant d’installer des navigateurs modernes et d’abandonner les technologies obsolètes. Le second message induit, reste évidemment que l’expérience de lecture de livre peut se faire sans App. Le résultat ? tout à fait remarquable en terme d’experience, et vous invite à y aller voir vous même.
