BusyTonight.com Event Search

We developed BusyTonight because we wondered why it was so hard to use the Internet to find things to do. Even here in New York City, we were finding ourselves sitting alone at home more often than we would like. Just like you, we were tired of hearing just a little too late about concerts we would have attended, lectures we shouldn't have missed, sports events that would have been fun -- if only we'd learned about them the day before they happened. We set out to solve this problem for ourselves, and decided to share the results with you. From our office near the historic Fulton Fish Market in Lower Manhattan, where the fish wholesale businesses are giving way to technology companies like ours, we can look out the window and see people of all kinds strolling the East River promenade, with the palisades of Brooklyn Heights as a backdrop. Families heading to South Street Seaport, Wall Street bond traders barking into their cellphones, construction workers drinking coffee, paralegals reading science fiction novels on their lunch breaks, teenagers on skateboards -- it all happens right outside, all day and all evening. Every one of those people is interested in different things. That family is looking for a kid-friendly street fair for this weekend. That guy on the cellphone is secretly a fan of Judas Priest (shhh, don't tell). That woman with the novel on her lap doesn't want to miss the next Xena convention. The kid on the skateboard -- he won't even tell us what he's into, but whatever it is, he's really into it. And so on. Because everyone's interests are different, our goal is to index every event on the Internet in a single database.
