PHOTO - Is Unsplash killing the industry? Zack Arias interviews it's founder - DIY Photography

(via)
n the photography world, there are a small number of photographers I truly look up to. People whose work, worth ethic and general philosophy I’ve followed for years. And it is a very small list. Zack Arias is one of those photographers. So, I’ve probably given his thoughts more consideration on this matter than I would some random photographer on Facebook. And there are three main points. 1 - Free photography is going to ruin the career of hardworking photographers trying to earn a living 2 - The licences don’t go far enough to educate the users on what they can legally do with the images 3 - Unsplash is basically just an advertising front for Crew running off the backs of other creators working for free

JAVASCRIPT - IMAGE - LAZY LOAD - Lazy Loading Images? Don’t Rely On JavaScript! | Robin Osborne

(via)
One popular method to deal with this is to “Lazy Load” the images; that is, to only load the images just before the user will need to see them. If this technique is applied to the “above the fold” content – i.e., the first average viewport-sized section of the page – then the user can get a significantly faster first view experience. So everyone should always do this, right? Given the potential limitations, let’s work on a solution that can handle all my concerns: a. works without JavaScript (i.e., lazy loading is an enhancement) b. vanilla js – no dependencies on jquery or angularjs c. works with broken JavaScript (i.e., the browser supports JavaScript, but there’s a js error somewhere which causes your script to break; might not even be your fault!)

EDITOR - Markdown Monster - TUTORIAL (image) - Getting Images into Markdown Documents and Weblog Posts with Markdown Monster – Markdown Monster Blog – Medium

(via)
Getting Images into Markdown Documents and Weblog Posts with Markdown Monster: One good justification for using a rich editor for editing Markdown or a Weblog entry is that you can provide some additional features above and beyond what a simple text or code editor can provide. When you’re creating content you are usually dealing with a number of things beyond plain text like code snippets, feature widgets and most importantly — images. Just about any document you create is likely to include some visual content in the form of images and getting images into documents should be as quick and easy as possible. In this post, I describe all the different ways available in Markdown Monster to add images to Markdown content.

FACE RECOGNITION - OpenFace project

Overview: The following overview shows the workflow for a single input image of Sylvestor Stallone from the publicly available LFW dataset. Detect faces with a pre-trained models from dlib or OpenCV. Transform the face for the neural network. This repository uses dlib's real-time pose estimation with OpenCV's affine transformation to try to make the eyes and bottom lip appear in the same location on each image. Use a deep neural network to represent (or embed) the face on a 128-dimensional unit hypersphere. The embedding is a generic representation for anybody's face. Unlike other face representations, this embedding has the nice property that a larger distance between two face embeddings means that the faces are likely not of the same person. This property makes clustering, similarity detection, and classification tasks easier than other face recognition techniques where the Euclidean distance between features is not meaningful. Apply your favorite clustering or classification techniques to the features to complete your recognition task. See below for our examples for classification and similarity detection, including an online web demo.

IPLOL IMAGE - Recherche Google

(via)
This is an article dedicated to the Gmic filter 'colorize', a new and next generation computer-assisted tool for colorization image filter. This filter was created by David Tschumperlé , project manager and main developer of Gmic. The filter improved a lot on this September 2014 ( and was started around spring 2013 ). I kept an eye on the filter development since the very beginning as a tester, but I got totally enthusiast about it recently ; especially when filter became interactive and more user friendly. I ) Overview 1) What kind of problems it solves : A bit of context here, the first steps of colorizing a line-art, usually with flat zone is a super long, annoying and robotic work.

GIF -FREE APP - ScreenToGif: Screencast GIF Making Tool With Powerful Editor [Windows]

ScreenToGif is a free executable utility that records a screencast and saves it as GIF. Unlike Recordit, it doesn’t convert from an video format to a GIF, instead you record a GIF. You select the frame rate and the recording area, and when you click record, it starts to capture the GIF. You can manage the playback rate, and choose to loop it and if that isn’t enough, the app also lets you add text to your GIF, insert title or image frames, and edit each individual frame. It is about as complete as a GIF making app gets and it’s fast. As a GIF maker, ScreenToGif is suited for quick feature demos; it can capture the mouse cursor when recording the GIF and also show mouse clicks. Launch the app and resize the window so that the area you want to record fits inside it. You can set a custom frame size down to the pixel using the tools at the bottom of the window. In the box next to the stopwatch, you set the frame rate. The higher the frame rate, the better the quality of the GIF. Click Record when you’re ready.
