李大同不忌諱與記者探討政權穩定與輿論開放之關係。他反對只是從負面去總結前蘇聯開放輿論的經驗，同時也反對無序開放，「那是絕對不行的」，他說﹕「照中國國情，無序肯定會導致暴民統治，那中國就完了。」但他認為這絕不能成為今日中宣部所作所為的依據。
