Giants losing grip on season with 4 game skid
They hired him to be the disciplinarian they didn’t have in Jim Fassel. He was supposed to come in here and right the ship and not allow any distractions from the locker room affect the team’s play on Sundays. But as the current season goes on, Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has looked to be anything but what he is sometimes called in the tabloids, “Major Tom.”

Strong Island tips off in their second ABA season
In their inaugural season, the Strong Island Sound made a lot of noise. Although they finished with a mediocre 16-14 record, they had a 10-game winning streak, qualified for the ABA’s Great 8 Tournament in Rochester, and made the Final Four. Not bad for an expansion team. Now they have to follow that up.

Herman Edwards had success during his five-year Jet tenure. But his swan song will be remembered in the same light as Rich Kotite’s days at the Meadowlands. Injuries may have played a big part of the 4-12 debacle that was the 2005 season. And when Herm packed up for Kansas City, not too many people were clinging to his leg. A change was needed for this team. And Eric Mangini was the right man for the job.
