L'API MetaWeblog permet la publication sur son blog depuis toutes sortes d'outils. Par exemple w.bloggar est un logiciel qui s'installe sur son ordinateur et qui après paramétrisation permet la publication de billet sans avoir besoin de se connecter à son interface d'administration.

KABLOG is a tool for mobile phones and PDAs that allows you to post photos and blog entries to blog servers and services such as TypePad, Movable Type, Blogger, WordPress, B2, Blog-City, UserLand (Radio), Roller, SnipSnap, and other blog servers that support either the simple blogger xmlrpc interface or the extended metaWeblog interface. DotClear propose d'intégrer les méthodes XML/RPC suivantes : Blogger API 1.0, metaWeblog et MovableType?. Ceci revient à supporter la même spécification que MovableType?. L'objectif est de pouvoir utiliser les client XML/RPC en spécifiant MovableType? comme type de weblogue.
