Series from "Two or three things I know about Budo" with Pascal Krieger

(Jodojo.com - Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo - Interviews with Nishioka Sensei) I have heard that according to legend, these words come from the enlightenment of Muso Gonnosuke’s (the founder of SMR) pursuit of the warrior path. I think that there is meaning to the formation of this legend (for SMR practioners).

What a pleasure it was to attend the 2009 CKF iaido and jodo gradings at the Etobicoke Olympium in Ontario, Canada. The day began with an over-subscribed iaido seminar featuring instruction by Ohmi Goyo sensei, Asaoka Mitsuru sensei, Stephen Cruise sensei, David Green sensei (and myself). That's four nanadan and a rokudan for the 50 to 60 students who attended. The seminar began with a group run-through of Zen Ken Ren iai (seitei gata) and then the students were split into their challenge groups, ikkyu, shodan, nidan and sandan, and yondan up to receive some specific training.

Personally I feel that the Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo (or Jojutsu) syllabus offers such a comprehensive, interesting and cohesive approach to Jodo technical training, it is a great shame to not explore it, research it and become proficient in the various “flavours” of Shindo Muso Ryu Jo.

En Aïkido nous avons trois armes différentes à notre disposition. Si celles-ci ne sont pas semblables dans leurs formes et leurs manipulations, la règle qui préside à une attaque reste toujours la même : l’arme précède le corps.

Le week-end du 13 au 15 novembre, Jaff Raji nous a fait l’amitié de sa présence à Bruxelles. Cette année le programme était chargé, puisque jour après jour nous avons pratiqué le jodo, l’aïkido et le kenjutsu. Un vaste programme qui n’était pas pour déplaire aux participants qui ont pu goûter aux différences de ces trois disciplines.

Tiki Shewan et Pascal Krieger nous ont gratifié d’un stage riche en réflexions et enseignements autour d’une discussion entre aikidō sur le thème 道法自然, Dōhō Shinnen ou Dōhō Jizen : Le sens d’une Voie est d’être naturel.
