YouOS

by 39 others
Web-based operating system. An interesting experiment, but not half as convincing as EyeOS.

AjaxWrite

by 41 others
Ajax-powered online word processor. Like Writely, but without the collaborative features. Not bad, but not great either.

BoardTracker

by 3 others
Search engine for message boards. Includes tag clouds, trend graphs and alerts. A great idea that seems to be well executed.

SiteKreator

by 2 others
Website creation and hosting. Set up a custom site for your personal or business use without knowledge of html and CSS. It's a good solution and an easy tool to use. Nonetheless, SiteKreator faces competition from Google Page Creator and simple blogging tools.

Gixo

by 1 other
Personalized homepage and newsreader. Gixo monitors the headlines you click and personalizes the experience to better suit your interests. Similar to Findory, but not quite as convincing.

Bloginfluence

Another service to check the influence of your blog. Similar to EgoSurf.

Big.com

by 1 other
A search engine, but bigger! Huge search box and enormous results. A joke, perhaps?

Congoo

by 3 others
Premium content search engine. Users must download a "Netpass" before they can use Congoo, and access to premium content is limited. Ultimately, you've got to wonder why anyone would bother - if you frequently use a premium content site, it makes more sense to pay the subscription fee and use Google for all your other searches.

CommunityWalk

by 9 others
Create and explore interactive maps. Pretty good. CommunityWalk really takes Google Maps to the next level, building communities and discussions around them.

Printfection

Custom t-shirt printing, along the lines of Cafepress. Somehow it lacks the edginess of rivals like Spreadshirt and Threadless.

Jobazaar

by 13 others
Online jobs site with tagging and ratings. Nice and simple, although I expect they'll have trouble gaining a large enough user base.

Lists of Bests

by 5 others
Social "best of" lists, now owned by RobotCoop (the makers of 43Things). Likely to appeal to the same geeky userbase as 43things, 43people and 43places.

Aggregate Knowledge Recommendation Engine

Web service similar to EasyUtil. Allows you to quickly add an Amazon-style recommendation engine to your site ("People who liked this also liked...") The branding and presentation is much more convincing than EasyUtil, and Aggregate Knowledge has a great team behind it.

EasyUtil

by 1 other
Recommendation API. If you're setting up a website and need Amazon-style recommendations ("people who liked this also liked"), you can plug in to EasyUtil and include these features right away. A company called Aggregate Knowledge just released a similar service. Both of these products will make it easier for developers to set up community sites with recommendations.

Mesh Tennis

by 1 other
Social networking site to help you find people to play tennis with. Very much a niche opportunity, but interesting nonetheless.

Podbasket

by 3 others
Create a podcast feed simply by pointing to existing audio files. Fairly basic, but works well.

LiveDigital

by 2 others
Yet another generic social network. Upload audio, video and photos and share them with the world. Not bad, but scores zero for innovation.

Stylehive

by 15 others
Social bookmarking site for style, fashion and shopping. One of many sites trying to bring social bookmarking to niche audiences. An interesting effort, and well-suited to its target market.

YodPod

by 2 others
A free RSS reader. Not the most attractive interface in the world, but it is very responsive. Nonetheless, it lacks unique features and there are already far too many RSS readers.

Snubster

by 8 others
An antisocial network. In protest against the growing number of online social networks, Snubster lets you create lists of people you don't like. A fun idea.

vMix

by 8 others
Video-sharing community. Needs work in terms of design and usability. Not nearly as compelling as YouTube. Other competitors include vSocial and Vimeo.

VCarious

Travel community with journals, travel guides and photos. Explore destinations and connect with other travellers. A nice site. Similar services include TripConnect and TravBuddy.

Publi.sh

by 6 others
Instantly publish an RSS feed. Simple, but seems to work. For a more feature-rich edge feeder, take a look at FeedXS.

NetJaxer

by 1 other
Put Web 2.0 applications on your Windows desktop. Creates desktop and quick launch icons for your favorite web-based apps. You can also load web pages on startup and run them from the system tray. An interesting fusion of the desktop and the web, although it will have very limited appeal.

talking hub

by 3 others
Simple online forum with tagging. Tags are definitely an interesting way to organize forum content - if only more forums worked like this!
