Google has lots to do with intelligence

by karlcow

So far, 37,000 users have established accounts on the network, which contain 35,000 articles encompassing 200,000 pages, according to Dennehy.

Rapport créations/contributeurs, pas très élevé…

Normally, Google ranks results on its consumer site by using the number of links to a Web page as a barometer of its importance. Doing so on Intellipedia isn't as effective because the service lies behind a firewall and is used by a limited number of people. Instead, material gets more prominent placement if it is tagged, or appended by the network's users, with descriptive keywords.

ahah. Google ne fait pas que de l'indexation full-text, mais aussi structurée.

What separates good and bad performers is not whether they come from business or civil society, but whether they have a clear focus to their work, strong learning and accountability mechanisms that keep them heading in the right direction, and the ability to motivate their staff or volunteers to reach the highest collective levels of performance.

Whimsley: Mr. Google's Guidebook

by karlcow

At some universities, administrators are taking a new approach to deciding where to put footpaths. At first they don't put footpaths anywhere; they just let students walk across the grass to get where they need to go, wearing away the grass and creating rough tracks as they do so. Then when it is clear where the popular tracks go the university can just tidy them up, put down some paving stones, and they have a path in the right place.

WY20 facilitates the mapping of your everyday travels. WY20 both lets you update your location via text message anytime you like and also periodically sends you a text reminder to update your location (just in case you don’t think your present location is that interesting and didn’t tell WY20 about it). Once you update your location via a text message, it becomes available to any other third party applications that use the Fire Eagle platform. Aggregate location data can be visualized to show one’s personal history.

Google LatLong: It's your world. Map it.

And so we thought: Why stop there?
