with Intel 945GM, Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy, the external VGA monitor is always cloned. Going into System->Preference->Screen Resolution lets you alter the resolution of the LCD and the external monitor, but it stays cloned whether “Clone Screens” is checked or not. Putting monitor to the left or right of the LCD does nothing (stays cloned). However, putting monitor above or below LCD does work (two desktops, one on top of the other).

Screen is a full-screen window manager that multiplexes a physical terminal between several processes. In short, you can have a few virtual terminal by using only one physical terminal. Screen is useful when you are accessing servers remotely, or running jobs on the background. When you want to run jobs on the background, it is very useful to run it inside one screen so that you can detached it, and simply log out without worry. Below are a few useful command to be used with screen to get you started.

En comparaison, Adium demande 35 Mb et Skype 43 Mb.

Lorsque vous organisez une réunion, seul l’hôte de la conférence doit posséder Yuuguu sur son poste de travail. Les participants accèdent à la présentation depuis un lien URL unique généré par Yuuguu. C’est l’un des services de partage d’écran des plus faciles à utiliser. De plus, comme les participants n’ont rien à installer pour participer à une conférence, Yuuguu peut être utilisé même dans un environnement sécurisé. Yuuguu est gratuit et disponible en version Windows, Mac et Linux.
