The Echo Web Framework is for developing web-based applications that approach the capabilities of rich clients.
Echo2 removes the developer from having to think in terms of "page-based" applications and enables him to develop applications using the conventional object-oriented and event-driven paradigm for user interface development. Knowledge of HTML, HTTP, and JavaScript is not required.
Applications may be hosted using any Java servlet container. Echo2, like its predecessor, is open-source software distributed under the terms of the Mozilla Public License (or, if preferred, the GNU LGPL License).

Apache Tomcat is the servlet container that is used in the official Reference Implementation for the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies. The Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages specifications are developed by Sun under the Java Community Process.
Apache Tomcat is developed in an open and participatory environment and released under the Apache Software License. Apache Tomcat is intended to be a collaboration of the best-of-breed developers from around the world. We invite you to participate in this open development project.
