Cool Solutions: A Xen Virtual Machine Monitor Plugin for Nagios
This document describes a Nagios plugin — a "Xen Virtual Machine Monitor" which can be easily integrated in an existing Nagios system environment.
NagVis
NagVis is a visualization addon for the well known network managment system Nagios.
NagVis can be used to visualize Nagios Data, e.g. to display IT processes like a mail system or a network infrastructure.
Key features are:
*
Display of single Hosts and Services
*
Visualize a complete Host- oder Servicegroup with one icon
*
Display the state of a Host dependent on the state of its services (“recognize services”)
*
Display only the real problems (“only_hard_states”)
*
Define Sub-Map icons wich represent a complete NagVis Map of Hosts/Services/Groups in one icon (drill down)
*
Visualization/Documentation of complete IT Processes and Infrastructures using self drawn graphics
Nagios Plugins and Add Ons Exchange
Nagios is an open source host, service and network monitoring program. This site is a central repository for plugins to extend its monitoring capabilities and addons, that introduce new features. Click here if you want to learn more about Nagios.

This Script is coded to install the latest Nagios-Version (CVS) and the Nagios Plugins 1.4.11 automatically!
It's meant to be a help for testing, searching bugs or simply to install Nagios and the Plugins without harking back to the Ubuntu-Package.
First the dependencies will be fixed, missing packages will be installed via apt. The next step is adding the
groups and user which are necessary for Nagios. After that the latest Nagios Tarball will be downloaded and
installed. If errors occur while the installation process you have to kill the script (Ctrl c) and fix it
manually. After that you can run the script again. Then the standard-user (named "nagios") for the Frontend
will be created and you will be asked to set a password for it.
Done, Nagios is installed. Now the plugins are going to be installed. Same procedure, downloading, configuring,
installing. I tried to meet all requirements, so that every plugin will be compiled, but i did'nt check it.
Have fun.

Using Nagios to Monitor Networks
Nagios is a powerful, modular network monitoring system that can be used to monitor many network services like smtp, http and dns on remote hosts. It also has support for snmp to allow you to check things like processor loads on routers and servers. I couldn't begin to cover all of the things that nagios can do in this article, so I'll just cover the basics to get you up and running.
apricoti wiki / NagiosCheckEmailDelivery
The check_email_delivery plugin allows you to send an email message and then check that it was received. This is also called checking an email loop. This is accomplished through two additional plugins (included), called check_smtp_send and check_imap_receive. As of version 0.5, you can also use other plugins to do create the loop.
This project includes:
check_smtp_send - connects to an SMTP server and sends a message
check_imap_receive - connects to and searches an IMAP account for messages
check_email_delivery - sends email and verifies delivery using other plugins
You can use check_smtp_send and check_imap_receive independently, and you can use check_email_delivery to check that an email loop is working.

pnp:start [Ederdrom.de]
PNP is an addon to nagios which analyzes performance data provided by plugins and stores them automatically into RRD-databases (Round Robin Databases, see RRD Tool).
NagiosExchange: Categories: Check Plugins
This plugin is written in python and does two things each time it runs : 1 - Sends an email containing an id to a specified address, and stores the id to a specified file. 2 - Checks a specified pop3 account to see if the previous message was received. Usage : --relay --popserver --popuser --poppassword --to --from --idfile

Nagios
