heevaPlug development kit is a plug computing device that runs network-based software services that normally require a dedicated personal computer.  Featuring a 1.2GHz Marvell Sheeva CPU with 512 MB of flash memory and 512 MB of DDR2, the SheevaPlug development kit provides ample performance and resources to develop or port almost any application.  Multiple Linux distributions are available for the platform, and software is supported in an open source model.  Network connectivity is via Gigabit Ethernet; peripheral devices can be connected using USB2.0.

Moonshine is a project based on Moonlight that leverages the built-in Windows Media capabilities of Silverlight to bring Windows Media playback to Linux in a fully legitimate way, without forcing the end user worry about what a codec is. This is possible because Microsoft provides the codecs directly to all Moonlight users, regardless of their choice of Linux distribution.

The following tutorial covers the process of running Knoppix persistently from a portable USB flash drive using Qemu from a Windows 98, XP or Vista host PC without ever rebooting. Most of your personal settings and changes are automatically saved back to the stick and restored at boot via the Persistence image. This is accomplished using Qemu emulation software in conjunction with a persistent virtual hard disk image file for saving and restoring changes
