Google’s office strategy just got a whole lot richer with the announced acquisition of the wiki based company Jotspot. A business oriented service that plugs a long list of different applications like calendars and photo sharing into a wiki framework, we called Jotspot “the best business-facing hosted wiki available” when we reviewed its newest iteration this summer.

Le "long tail" décrit initialement par Chris Anderson dans un célèbre article de Wired s'appliquait aux livres, disques, vidéo. Cet article prétend que le L.T. s'applique aussi au software, en raison de l'infini "versioning" des applications "locales" (genre Excel + mail). Il préconise de les remplacer par des modules JotsPot. On aura autant de diversité (applications personnalisées) mais sans les problèmes du "versioning", car il s'agit d'applications en ligne
