WEAVE by Taut Nerve

WEAVE is a short game about an abstract journey of two characters, who are both trying to cope with a shared event from the past in different ways. The experience is presented to the player using only visual language and interactivity, without any text or verbal language. There is a thematic and narrative structure present, but the lines defining that structure are invisible, and the player must connect the dots and interpret the story by how they see it. Zoning out for a few minutes and using headphones is highly recommended for optimal experience, enjoy.

In May 2011 I was commissioned by the Film Academy Ludwigsburg and Korion GmbH for a computer game to visualize a high-rez model of an explorer’s ship. The first thing I thought of this was the “Santa Maria” of Christopher Columbus, who reached America in 1492. For a game trailer I’ve rendered a ship and a few additional models for four CG sequences.

This a short game where you spank the heck out of a dude and learn about how BDSM communities attempt to formalize consent / caring. I was really interested in how we can make games about intimacy without a "kindness coins = sex cutscene" trope, and how we can use expressive gestures to roleplay / think about pain and intimacy. (For the record, I don't think my game gets it right, and it has a lot of flaws... this stuff is hard to design!)
