Here is a purported photo of Canon’s next DSLR, the EOS 30D. Argued to be designed to compete directly with Nikon’s D200 the 30D closely resembles a 20D with minor differences; the body appears slightly smoother.

On 20th August 2003 Canon dropped a bomb into the digital SLR market with the six megapixel sub-$1,000 EOS 300D (Digital Rebel). Eighteen months later and just in time for the largest trade show of the year (PMA 2005) Canon has revealed the successor to the 300D, the new, smaller, eight megapixel, EOS 350D (Digital Rebel XT).

For myself, I'd choose the EOS 20D, but I'd have no hesitation in recommending the Digital Rebel XT to anyone who wanted to save $500. It looks like an excellent camera and probably provides the vast majority of users all the features that they will ever
