Nombreux sont ceux qui appellent aujourd'hui de leurs voeux la naissance d’une VIème République. Mais les projets constitutionnels les plus aboutis ne proposent en général qu’une redéfinition des rapports entre les pouvoirs. Or, une Constitution, c’est aussi et avant tout le socle littéraire du "Contrat Social". C'est-à-dire l’affirmation - claire pour tous - de valeurs communes à l’ensemble du Peuple par delà les clivages politiques et sociaux et en amont des débats législatifs (qui concernent les moyens d’atteindre ensemble les buts que s’est fixé la Nation). C’est la redéfinition ou la réaffirmation de ces valeurs communes que s’est donné pour but laconstituante.org.

Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided, but not because the Supreme Court presumed to legalize abortion rather than ban it. Roe was wrongly decided because abortion simply is not a constitutional issue. There is not a word in the text of that document, nor in any of its amendments, that conceivably addresses abortion. There is no serious argument based on the text of the Constitution itself that a federal "right to abortion" exists. The federalization of abortion law is based not on constitutional principles, but rather on a social and political construct created out of thin air by the Roe court.
