Everyone like me who has been waiting and waiting for a French TV show featuring animated pieces of meat... our time has come! There are several episodes available for viewing; I recommend every single one. Thank God for the FMU blog.

French campaigns get nasty on the net from Guardian Unlimited: News blog

Despite all the fooling around - and Presidentielle.net even has a political love test while Segostop and Sarkostique claim they can cure you of any lingering admiration for the two main candidates - the parties have never taken the net more seriously.

WFMU's Beware of the Blog: Meat (video)

I don't speak French so I have no idea what is going on here exactly... but who can deny a soap opera where all the characters are pieces of meat? Any Francophiles willing to tell the rest of us what's going on here?

And finally there is Presidentielles. An extremely fun, in your face magazine / newspaper type design gives way to a site packed full of information. Now if only I could read it… Regardless, I love the design, layout, and how much content that pack onto just the homepage itself.

Australia Day 2007 on Google Maps

Google Australia is celebrating Australia Day 2007 by photographing Sydney Harbour from the air, and we want to make sure as many of us as possible squeeze into the picture. So when you see the Google branded plane flying overhead this January 26th, hoist a sign, arrange your family into a fun formation or just get a bunch of friends together to wave. The plane has permission to fly low and will be taking hi-resolution pictures like this one of people on 'Het Plein' in The Hague. Wear or do something distinctive to make sure you can spot yourself.

This is not a small region previewed here: this is millions of acres of trees that have been removed from the Amazonian rainforests and turned into houses and paper. The amount of devestation is so vast that you can easily see its extent from space. Scroll around and zoom in to see the scale of these logging operations.

In Paris, the Poor Get Poorer and the Rich get Politer - Gridskipper

RATP, the Parisian transit authority, is running a massive be fuckin' nice campaign. The latter is crammed with documentaries, little "fun" activities like a quiz on the rules of the subway and a "guess why this is annoying" game and a virtual pair of glasses that allow one to see the cost of subway damage (ripped seats, engraved windows, graffiti). Gallic shrug notwithstanding, the website is worth a good rooting around, if only to ponder the hours and hours of flash animation someone put in in an effort to make people nicer.

Big bang

At this campaign members of the BUND put globe-ballons on exhaust-pipes of cars in Berlin, Germany. The emissions inflate the ballons. And after the message (The world can't take anymore CO2.) is readable, there is a big bang. Of course the text is not always readable anymore after the big bang but the campaign gives a lot of rumour and media attention.
