Elecom Emergency iPod Charger Looks Ugly, Get the Job Done

This emergency charger from Elecom has the ability to give your dock-capable iPod some juice with the addition of only two AA batteries. The device itself isn’t quite seamless, but it can power your iPod back up in emergency situations.

Etymotic Ety8 Wireless iPod Earphones

We’ve been waiting for wireless earphones for the iPod for a while, but these Ety8 earphones from Etymotic unfortunately look a bit silly. These earphones are wireless in that they don’t need to be connected to your iPod, but they do have a cable running between the two that wraps around your head/neck.

Top Gear - Noble M12 GTO

Top Gear: Jeremy Clarkson took Noble M12 GTO for road test. This car is 650-pounds lighter than Porshe 911 which is 2,315 pounds. Its performance pulverizes the standard 911 into submission and even threatens the Turbo. Noble achieve a 0-60 mph sprint time in 3.7 seconds and a top speed “on excess of 170 mph”. Video

Research Says 58% of iPod Users May Choose Zune Over iPod

As surprising as it may sounds, ABIResearch’s latest poll says 58% of current iPod users said they were “somewhat likely” or “extremely likely” to pick a Zune player over any other player? WTF? We tried to take a look at the actual survey results, but realized they cost $3,000. Yeah, no, that’s ok. We’ll pass.

Remember that super-small iPod Shuffle v2.0 from the Showtime event well over a month ago? The good news is that this player is finally shipping. Way too long after it was announced, in my opinion.

F1: 2007 Preview

So that’s it. F1’s greatest talent will not win the 2006 World Drivers Championship (WDC). Michael Schumacher admitted as much after last week’s Japanese GP, when engine failure sidelined his car and his hopes of an eighth title. “One cannot always win and things do not always go as planned.” Although Schuey threw in the proverbial towel, there is a way he could snatch victory from the jaws of defeat: if he wins the final race of the season and Renault pilot Fernando Alonso fails to score a single point.

Another ever-so-confusing patent application from Apple has hit the wire. I’m trying to break down this confusing document and it seems that it is a process by which the iPod can wirelessly sample and save (purchase) media. The iPod tunes into a wireless signal like AM/FM, digital radio or Wi-Fi.

Toyota FJ Cruiser: Off-Road Test

Off-road capable SUV’s are an increasingly rare breed. More and more of our roads are occupied by SUV look-a-likes that can hardly ford a burst water main or clamber over a vicious pothole– never mind tackle the great American outback. Flying in the face of this trend towards soft-roaders and CUV’s, Toyota recently launched their mud-plugging, rock-crawling FJ Cruiser.

Preview: Volvo XC60

Volvo arrived late to the SUV party, but they brought some killer tunes. The XC90 was a full-sized soft-roader CUV thingie before full-sized soft-roader CUV thingies were cool. Well, OK, it’s hard to argue that any Volvo was or ever could be “cool;” but the instantly recognizable ride was an instant hit with America’s safety-minded Soccer moms.

mi Lites: iPod Case with Lighting

If those white earbuds aren’t doing their job to get your iPod stolen, you might consider the mi Lite. It’s half protective case, half party in my pocket, and fully obnoxious to fellow commuters on the subway.

t ShowStoppers (some lame tech media event) last night, probably the only company that was showing anything Gizmodo-cool was iFrogz—its Tadpole iPod case for children was showed off for the first time and it sure does look interesting.
