The OpenCalais Web service can analyze text and provide rich semantic data for submitted text. With Yahoo! Pipes users can easily create custom RSS feeds. The Calais Pipes Service allows Yahoo! Pipes users to enrich their custom RSS feeds with semantic metadata.

I often wonder how the Semantic Web will affect game development, and how games may take advantage of Semantic Web technologies. I've searched high and low (on Google) and haven't found a single written piece on people's ideas of the Semantic Web and video games so I will describe my own, as well as provide some visuals to give you a clear picture.

A l'occasion de la nouvelle version de Dbpedia, je me suis remis au boulot et j'ai mis au point quelques exemples qui, je l'espère, montreront tout l'intérêt de disposer de données structurées, disponibles sous une forme normalisée, RDF, et interrogeable via un langage de requête et un protocole normalisé, SPARQL. Bref, montrer l'intérêt des technologies du Web sémantique.

Vous avez analysé de nombreux schémas XML et les microformats, mais aucun d'eux ne décrit avec précision l'ensemble des informations que vous souhaitez publier. Devez-vous créer un nouveau format ? C'est tentant, mais si vous utilisez un standard, vos données seront immédiatement interopérables avec les autres données publiées de la même façon. On pourra réutiliser les outils, les parsers et les feuilles de style construits autour de ce standard. Mais malheureusement, rien ne semble vraiment convenir à vos besoins. Et c'est là qu'intervient RDF.

L'intérêt principal du couple RDF/OWL est qu'il structure l'information en levant l'ambiguïté et la complexité des champs d'une base de données. Auparavant, la structure des données - l'intelligence que reflète ces mêmes données- reposait sur le bon vouloir du seul administrateur, à travers la création de champs. Par exemple, une famille pouvait être traduite par une colonne ID "père" puis une colonne ID "mère". Une méthode compréhensible uniquement par les francophones et les administrateurs. Avec OWL, on peut par exemple caractériser le lien de filiation.

L'idée est d'associer à un contenu des données qui décrivent un sens, à l'origine humain, qui soit compréhensible par les machines. Prennons exemple sur ce billet de blog :

RDFa est un projet du W3C pour rajouer des attributs sémantiques à XHTML, un concurrent aux microformats. "RDFa is a set of extensions to XHTML being proposed by W3C. RDFa uses attributes from XHTML's meta and link elements, and generalises them so that they are usable on all elements. This allows you to annotate XHTML markup with semantics. A simple mapping is defined so that RDF triples may be extracted."
