Retina.js | Retina graphics for your website

by dzc & 4 others
When your users load a page, retina.js checks each image on the page to see if there is a high-resolution version of that image on your server. If a high-resolution variant exists, the script will swap in that image in-place. The script assumes you use Apple's prescribed high-resolution modifier (@2x) to denote high-resolution image variants on your server.

Facelift Image Replacement | About FLIR Image Replacement

by camel & 2 others
Tired of Arial and Times New Roman? I know I am. Up until now you had a choice of using sIFR, or painstakingly designing image headers and adding them to your web page manually. Of course, this gets a little old, especially after deciding to change color schemes two or three times. Enter facelift. It is the best of both worlds! Create your website as you would normally, and then install the two lines of code that facelift requires. The elements that you want to style will be replaced with an image representation of that text styled with your custom font. And since the text is retrieved directly from the page, you don't have to worry about updating any images when text changes — it is all done automatically!

Fluid Image Rescaling Without Flash Published March 17, 2008 I didn’t want to post this site to the gallery because it doesn’t fit the criteria for approved sites, but it does have a very cool feature that I think is worth sharing. If you take a look at SHOTVIEW, you’ll find what appears to be a typical, fixed-width image portfolio. If, however, you resize the browser window, the images rescale to fill the available space as the footer stays fixed to the bottom of the viewport. Then, when you release the browser and settle on a window size, the image rescales and is updated with a decent quality version. It’s very elegant stuff, and apparently it doesn’t use Flash at all. Check it out.
