Cursors, Pointers and Arrow Icons

by sbrothier & 1 other (via)
I looked everywhere for these icons. Turns out, they were on my machine all along, burried deep inside. I extracted each icon and threw them on a sheet in Illustrator for easy access. Each icon is sized proportionally so when you drag one into Photoshop as a smart object the icon defaults to it's actual size. If you own a Mac then you already have these icons on your machine here:

Pixelated or fuzzy icons in Snow Leopard | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews

by sbrothier
A number of Snow Leopard users have been complaining of blurry and pixelated icons showing up in the Finder. A growing thread on the Apple discussion boards outlines this issue, where instead of the large and crisp icons that are so prominent in OS X, the system shows grainy and low-resolution versions of them, regardless of the icon size being used.

A Mac OS X-style Dock In JavaScript

by kasi77 & 1 other (via)
Apple’s Mac OS X operating system is renowned for its fluid graphical effects. One impressive feature is the dock’s ‘fish-eye’ effect, whereby icons expand and contract as the mouse moves over them. Achieving this effect in JavaScript is difficult, but the MacStyleDock function allows this feature to be implemented easily. An example is shown below (a larger demonstration is available on a separate page).

IndieHIG » Blog Archive » Fix the Leopard Folders (FTLF or FTFLF)

by sbrothier
Over the past few months, there’s been a lot of discussion about the new UI changes in Leopard. These mainly revolve around the dock [1] [2] and the menu bar which has recently been improved. Surprisingly, I have yet to see anyone comment on the new folders. Folder icons in Mac OS should serve the following purposes: * Fit in aesthetically with the other Apple-designed icons provided in the Leopard install * Make it very easy to distinguish between folders at a glance * Quickly describe the contents of the folder The new folders in Leopard fail on all counts for the four reasons listed below.
