Nous aimons la lecture, la littérature, et nous avons un ordinateur et/ou un PDA. Conséquence logique : nous aimons bien disposer de textes à lire, sur notre PDA ou notre ordinateur...C'est à partir de cette motivation, toute simple, que nous avons créé le groupe Yahoo Ebooks libres et gratuits. Notre but est la création et la publication d'ebooks - ou livres électroniques - gratuits, à partir de textes libres de droit ; nous sommes un groupe francophone international, de nombreux pays étant représentés par nos membres. Ce groupe est un lieu d'échanges et de débats, et nous permet ainsi de mieux nous organiser pour l'édition et la publication des ebooks. Tous ceux qui sont intéressés par les ebooks sont invités à nous rejoindre.

The native format for Stanza is ePub, which is the Open eBook standard from the International Digital Publishing Forum (http://www.idpf.org/). ePub is supported in Stanza Desktop, iPhone, and iPod Touch, as well as in Adobe Digital Editions and the next generation of e-ink readers like the Sony Reader (PRS-505).

(formerly Open eBook Forum) ".epub" is the file extension of an XML format for reflowable digital books and publications. ".epub" is composed of three open standards, the Open Publication Structure (OPS), Open Packaging Format (OPF) and Open Container Format (OCF), produced by the IDPF. "EPUB" allows publishers to produce and send a single digital publication file through distribution and offers consumers interoperability between software/hardware for unencrypted reflowable digital books and other publications. The Open eBook Publication Structure or "OEB", originally produced in 1999, is the precursor to OPS.
