PUBLIC MARKS with tags comics & image

This trade collects all of James Robinson’s Wildcats related work. It contains Wildcats (Vol. 1) issues 15-20, Wildcats Annual 1, Team One: Wildcats issues 1-2, Wildstorm Rising 1, and a short story from Wildcats issue 50.

I’m not that terribly familiar anymore with WITCHBLADE or, come to think of it, a lot of the other Top Cow titles. Regarding WITCHBLADE’s mythology, I know that the Witchblade itself is a tremendously powerful supernatural artifact wielded by NYPD homicide detective Sara Pezzini, and that this is a very dark comic book series.

As a casual comic reader (mostly cherry picking the best series once collected), I’m not sure I enjoyed this collection. The artwork, while beautiful, frequently caused confusion as to who was who. It certainly set the mood, but when dialog happened I frequently couldn’t even tell who was speaking. The story, while appropriately dark and gritty, occasionally exacerbated the confusion by switching narrative approaches.

Comics @ Mainada is probably the first web application in the world to allow users to draw complete comic strips directly online. It uses open laszlo and was created on ruby on rails: two great open source projects.
