Les trois derniers titres en date, sortis il y a quelques mois dans la collection "Hot Wax & Trax : Composer Series" proposent un nouveau florilège de grooves jazz funk mâtinés de flûtes traversières envoûtantes, de guitares déchaînées et de gros beats infectieux empruntés à nombre de films de délinquence juvéniles de l'époque mettant en vedette de jeunes espoirs de la NIKKATSU comme YOSHIO HARADA ou MEIKO KAJI. Au nombre des soundtracks présentés ici on retrouve la musique de l'épisode SEX HUNTER de la saga STRAY CAT ROCK et de sept autres films plus obscurs incluant SAKARIBA JINGI, HANGYAKU NO TABI, KOROSU MADE OE SHINJUKU 25 et SHINJUKU NO ONNA.

Some of the greatest films ever made are samurai movies usually set in the Edo period, or Tokugawa period, from 1603 to 1868, when Japan was ruled by the shoguns of the Tokugawa family. Sometimes these films are set in the late Heian period or early Meiji era, too.

In the early 1970′s, while walking with a friend through a park in Tokyo, photographer Kohei Yoshiyuki noticed that young couples used the park as a space for intimate encounters in the belief that they are protected by the darkness of the night. Equipped with a small camera and Kodak’s infrared flashbulb, Yoshiyuki produced a series of photographs that captures the nightly performance in Tokyo’s parks. In this haunting series of photographs produced between 1971 and 1979 and simply called The Park, the couples, both straight and gay, become the unwitting actors in Yoshiyuki’s play. While The Park has attracted much controversy in 1979 when it was first exhibited and published as a book in Tokyo, it was nearly thirty years later, in 2007, that Yoshiyuki’s project received global acclaim resulting in exhibitions throughout the US and Europe.

I have been a fan of science fiction for more than fifteen years, since my parents introduced me to Star Wars some time in 1991. Since then, I’ve become obsessed to varying degrees with shows including Star Trek, Babylon 5, Farscape, Andromeda, and others. The infinite realm of possibilities presented through these stories has great appeal to me — but I’ve loved different shows for different reasons. I love Star Trek for its optimistic tone and its incredibly detailed universe. Farscape caught my eye because of its refreshing, casual tone and the writers’ willingness to take risks in order to produce an exciting, entertaining series. And Babylon 5 stole my heart with its stirring, inspiring, all-encompassing series arc about the conflict between Order and Chaos.

Avez-vous remarqué que plusieurs technologies d'aujourd'hui se sont inspirées de la populaire série classique Star Trek ? Le créateur des séries Star Trek, Gene Roddenbury, a été un grand visionnaire. Pas seulement pour illustrer des concepts sociologiques toujours d'actualité, mais aussi dans l'imagination d'un futur technologique très plausible. Il avait apparemment quelques bons contacts à la NASA qui le conseillaient sur l'avenir scientifique de différents outillages. Il faut se dire que la série classique se déroulait à la fin des années 60 !!! Ils ont visé assez juste, avec quelques centaines d'années d'avance en plus.
