The Protocol for Web Description Resources (POWDER) facilitates the publication of descriptions of multiple resources such as all those available from a Web site. This document describes how sets of IRIs can be defined such that descriptions or other data can be applied to the resources obtained by dereferencing IRIs that are elements of the set. IRI sets are defined as XML elements with relatively loose operational semantics. This is underpinned by the formal semantics of POWDER which include a semantic extension, defined separately. A GRDDL transform is associated with the POWDER namespace that maps the operational to the formal semantics.

Diki is a peer-to-peer (or better: friend-to-friend) network for social semantic web application. Think of it as an instant messenger program for social networks like del.icio.us, bibsonomy, citeseer, facebook or studivz. Unlike those social networks, diki does not have a central server that stores your private data. The idea of diki is to create a social network that respects the users' privacy but giving them all functionality that server-based social networks have. In the current release you can create bookmarks, tag them and invite friends. Then you can search for bookmarks in your friends-network.

Depuis peu, on trouve de curieuses réponses dans les résultats de recherche de Google, notamment quand on l’interroge sur des dates de naissances ou les liens familiaux. Google répond désormais à la question posé plutôt que de pointer vers des pages contenant éventuellement une réponse. Pour l’instant, cela fonctionne avec l’anglais, et, dans une moindre mesure, avec le Français (c’est nettement moins impressionnant avec le Français, il faut le reconnaître).

An interesting presentiation at Google Tech Talks about different interfaces to query semantic data. Casual users were presented with 4 increasingly formal systems: keyword search, natural language search, controlled language search, and a graphical interface to build query patterns. Interestingly enough, the users liked natural language best, although keyword queries gave more accurate results.

SPARQLBot is a web-based service that reads and writes Semantic Web data based on simple, human-friendly commands received via IRC or the Web. The command base can be freely extended using a browser-based editor. SPARQLBot can process microformats, RSS, several RDF serializations, and results from parameterized SPARQL queries.

ARC is a flexible RDF system for semantic web and PHP practitioners. It's free, open-source, easy to use, and runs in most web server environments.

Je vous propose maintenant de passer de la théorie à la pratique.

IEML permet de représenter des concepts comme des ensembles de points dans un espace sémantique coordonné. Le métalangage a vocation à être utilisé par un protocole internet pour que naisse un espace sémantique commun sur le Web qui soit plus évolué et plus puissant que le Web sémantique actuellement préconisé par le WWW consortium, mais compatible avec celui-ci.

A l'occasion de la nouvelle version de Dbpedia, je me suis remis au boulot et j'ai mis au point quelques exemples qui, je l'espère, montreront tout l'intérêt de disposer de données structurées, disponibles sous une forme normalisée, RDF, et interrogeable via un langage de requête et un protocole normalisé, SPARQL. Bref, montrer l'intérêt des technologies du Web sémantique.
