Similar to Seeqpod, Mixtape.me "grabs music from around the web, notably from Seeqpod, and does a great job of letting you make and browse playlists in an environment reminiscent of desktop music players. You don't need an account to create a Quick Playlist on mixtape.me. You can just start adding tracks from searches and other people's playlists. Registering an account lets you add (but not upload) mp3s and save your playlists. There are also a lot of extra touches, like grabbing song info, lyrics and album artwork automatically. You can also share your playlists easily, even with friends who aren't signed up with Mixtape.me." [downloadsquad]

musotik - music search

Enter an artists name and get the artist's bio, album info, and similar artist info. Also search for Mp3's to play or download, and get links to the artist's page on Last.fm, Pandora etc.

Totally Fuzzy MP3Blog Search

"Search well over 1300 Music Blogs from here. Credits go to herr k for the OPML files and to gravybread for his mega mp3 site list http://gravybread.wordpress.com/mega-mp3-site-list/ used to doublecheck and verify the OPML listed sites. Without Powermarks (powermarks.com) this would have taken a couple of weeks instead of one very long day."

New Wave Outpost - Obscure 80's Song Clips

"...song clips of obscurities and lost treasures from vinyl records, representing a sampling of some of the great forgotten music of the new wave era, in my opinion. These clips are long enough to hear the verse and chorus—a vast improvement over the standard 30-seconds-or-less snippets offered by most online music stores."

Audiobaba | Music Search

by 1 other
"Audiobaba is a next generation music search engine that allows you to find songs by acoustic similarity." Only plays 30 second samples. Artists can upload music, so it might be a way to discover independent artists, if you don't mind sorting through the haystack. Shows album covers which is kind of cool.
