這類訴諸使用者集體創作的社群機制，最容易陷入內容貧乏的境地，必須在「精英」與「群眾」的觀點間取得平衡。豆瓣網的評論內容，豐富多元，在精英與普羅間有很好的平衡。例如在「人文經典閱讀小組」裡，小組正在討論「不是比快，而是比慢的閱讀」，有人寫道「讀書，只能一步一步的走，一個山頭一個山頭的翻，所謂『沉潛往復，從容含玩』。尤其對那些經典之作」，像這樣的討論題目，不會太學術取向，也不會太言之無物。好的社群網站，必須在內容吸引力、成員忠誠度、成員背景以及交易等方面都能具備良好的「動態循環」，豆瓣網的運作即同時成功地兼顧了這些要項。
