Les lignes de temps interactives (timelines) sont des exemples de formalisations séquentielles, des parcours de navigation dans l’information qui rompent avec la conception d’une interaction à simplement “cliquer/pointer”. Dans les timelines, l’implication gestuelle de l’internaute prend une signification particulière, avec un sens de lecture horizontal et cette notion de défilement, culturellement plus détachée de la métaphore de la page écran, en lecture verticale. Même si par ailleurs les lignes de temps empruntent leur culture à l’histoire comme discipline (les frises chronologiques que chacun a parcouru en classe) et que les manuels scolaires les ont consacrées comme une scénographie de l’information privilégiée pour la représentation du temps.
