Opsview is enterprise network and application monitoring software designed for scalability, flexibility and ease of use. Opsview has been in development since 2003 and is released under the GNU GPL license. Current version is 2.12. Opsview is a fully integrated monitoring tool that incorporates popular Open Source software including Nagios, Net-SNMP and RRDtool. The Catalyst web framework provides an extensible monitoring and configuration user interface. Opsview software is supported on Linux (Debian, CentOS, RHEL and Ubuntu) and Solaris 10. NagVis is a visualization addon for the well known network managment system Nagios. NagVis can be used to visualize Nagios Data, e.g. to display IT processes like a mail system or a network infrastructure. Key features are: * Display of single Hosts and Services * Visualize a complete Host- oder Servicegroup with one icon * Display the state of a Host dependent on the state of its services (“recognize services”) * Display only the real problems (“only_hard_states”) * Define Sub-Map icons wich represent a complete NagVis Map of Hosts/Services/Groups in one icon (drill down) * Visualization/Documentation of complete IT Processes and Infrastructures using self drawn graphics

Nagios is a powerful, modular network monitoring system that can be used to monitor many network services like smtp, http and dns on remote hosts. It also has support for snmp to allow you to check things like processor loads on routers and servers. I couldn't begin to cover all of the things that nagios can do in this article, so I'll just cover the basics to get you up and running.

Centreon is a network, system, applicative supervision and monitoring tool, it is based upon the most effective Open Source monitoring engine : Nagios. Centreon provides a new frontend and new functionnalities to Nagios.Image It ables you to be more efficient in your network monitoring, but also allows you to make your supervision informations readable by a largest range of users. NagiosVMA is virtual machine appliance that runs Nagios, a powerful, open-source application which performs host, service and network monitoring.
