Modern Pictograms is a typeface for interface designers and programmers. Designed in early 2011 for the Flatfile Wordpress theme, the pictograms stay sharp when used large or small. Install the OpenType file for Photoshop mockups and drop in the @font-face code into your CSS to embed them right in your Web page. Designed to work on web sites at sizes down to 18 pixels, but best at higher than 24 pixels.

Helvetireader is a hosted user stylesheet for Google Reader served via a user-script. It aims to make the interface a clean, minimal experience where you're not assaulted by an array of colours, social features and buttons (using Shortcuts instead). It's designed for people who just read the latest entries in expanded view without all the other gubbins.

The new Zune player features fonts designed by Ascender's Steve Matteson in the device User Interface and throughout its branding. The Endurance™ Pro Light and Bold typefaces are used in packaging, point of purchase and advertising for the Zune player. Endurance represents a warmer and more contemporary approach to the Grotesque sans serif genre of typefaces. The Endurance Pro font family contains eight fonts and features an extensive character set.

Last month, I introduced Segoe UI, the new user interface font for Office 12 and Windows Vista. Of course, you spend most of your time in Office not looking at the user interface, but working with documents. Times New Roman has been Word's default font since Word 6.0 introduced support for TrueType fonts. Although there are numerous other options available, most documents today are produced in Times New Roman, Arial, or more recently the Web-friendly choice Verdana.
